Remembering Bob Sweet

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) D. Sweet, Jr., founder of Creative Pultrusions, Inc.

Bob was a visionary with unmatched drive and determination. In 1972, his entrepreneurial spirit blossomed, and he departed an executive position with Westinghouse to start Creative Pultrusions, Inc.

Bob sold his car, tools and other possessions to fund a pultrusion die necessary to manufacture the prototype pultrusion that General Motors required prior to issuing a purchase order for production quantities of fiberglass dunnage bars. Bob successfully met the specifications and Creative was born.

With seven employees, an “original” pultrusion system, and an unwavering commitment to his customers, employees, vendors and community, Bob achieved substantial growth. In 1979, Creative located to its current location in Alum Bank, PA. In 2008, Bob sold Creative to Hill & Smith Holdings, PLC, a UK group, and decided to retire and enjoy the next chapter of his life in Maine.

Bob was kind-hearted and an outstanding humanitarian. A devout Christian, he empowered many individuals to grow and prosper. He cared about his employees and their families. Many of his employees considered him a mentor and father figure, and they cared for him deeply.  He will be greatly missed.
